Personal Life

Steven Wise lives and works in Rogers, Arkansas, where he raises five children. When Mr. Wise is not working or spending time with his family, he maintains a busy studio in his home on Apple Glen.  He is a true believer in the history of abstraction.  His work emphasizes geometric forms and playful lines that are both familiar and non-objective.

Professional Life

In the past five years, Mr. Wise’s work has been included in 2 solo exhibitions, 4 group exhibitions, and 2 juried exhibitions.  His work has been exhibited in the most competitive exhibitions in his home state such as the Annual Delta Exhibition at the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock (2010, 2004, 2003, 2000) and the Arkansas Arts Council’s Annual Small Works on Paper Exhibition (2018, 2017, 2012, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2004, 1999).  In 2013, Mr. Wise curated a show, Abstract ARt, which includes the work of 9 artists living in Arkansas who share Wise’s commitment to abstract painting.  The show Abstract ARt has appeared in 5 locations since 2013, including the Butler Center (Little Rock), Kresge Gallery (Lyon College), and the Zarrow Center (The University of Tulsa).  Most recently, from August to September of 2018, Mr. Wise exhibited 26 paintings from his series, D …. 40 paintings at the age of 40, at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.
